Welcome to Class 1’s Art Gallery.
Inspired by the work of the famous British artist L.S. Lowry, Class 1 explored how artists can tell stories about everyday life through painting. The children studied Lowry’s distinctive urban landscapes, discussing his use of simple buildings, ‘matchstick’ people and muted colours to capture busy town scenes.
They then created their own paintings using watercolour paints, carefully building soft backgrounds before adding bold details with paint and drawing materials. The children developed their skills in colour mixing, brush control and adding line and detail, creating imaginative scenes inspired by Lowry’s unique style.
We were delighted with the creativity and care shown by the children. Their finished artwork demonstrates growing confidence in painting techniques and an excellent understanding of how artists can use colour, line and composition to represent the world around them.
