Examples of Writing

Some pieces of year 2 writing about ’The Iron Man’ (Ted Hughes), reveal how well children are doing. Classes are now beginning cursive writing as children are ready for this new challenge. A focus for writing this year is in the accurate spelling of key words, with tricky spellings, that make up a high percentage of written English. These words are displayed on the Pirate Pete posters in each classroom, where children can check their spelling. Year 2 children are also using noun phrases, a range of conjunctions and time adverbials to add interest to their writing. We are thrilled with their progress and will add further examples to the website over the coming months.
