Dragons Tears

Chapter One

Once upon a time, many moons ago, a lonely dragon lay shackled in a deep, dark wood. The heavy, clunking chain around his neck made him unable to fly, he lay trapped and alone, afraid. Once, in happier times, his scales had glistened and shone in iridescent rainbow shades, that radiated his own particular dragon light, but now he moped in muted shades of brown.   He had become ensnared by a cruel witch who lived in a fabulously fragranced house made from all kinds of beautiful sweets, candies and chocolate. Yet this was just an illusion, for once inside, visitors found themselves in an entirely different place, one of darkness, gloom, cobwebs and fear… The witch used her delightful house to tempt those passing by to enter…the dragons job was to use his fiery breath to light the furnaces that the witch used to do her cooking….those who entered never came out.

“You are my dragon, you are never going to be free, for the chain that ensnares you can only be released by a magic key that you can never find!” cackled the witch.

The dragon lay and wept large, salty tears as he imagined a sad, sorrowful future.
